DIRECTOR
MattsonJack is currently seeking a self-motivated Account Director for the greater Chicago, IL area. MattsonJack’s client list includes some of the most recognized pharmaceutical and biotech companies in the
world, such as Abbott, Amgen, AstraZeneca, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Genentech, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson &
Johnson Companies, Eli Lilly, Merck, Novartis, Pfizer, Roche, Sanofi-Aventis, and Wyeth. This position will be responsible for:
- Identifying business opportunities within focus accounts based on an in-depth understanding of client needs
- Managing multiple engagements, balancing client expectations, workload, and timelines.
- Preparing and presenting results to Sr. Pharmaceutical and Biotech management personnel.
- Delivering on time, on-budget provision of client deliverables for assigned engagements.
Requirements:
- Minimum BA/BS degree, MBA or PhD preferred
- 5+ years of pharmaceutical experience required
- Excellent analytic, organization and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Consistent demonstration of maturity and diplomacy in the work environment
- Ability to make effective presentations to all levels of management
- Knowledge of and experience working with pharmaceutical and/or medical industry data
- Capable of developing cross-functional relationships within an organization

CANCER EPIDEMIOLOGIST
MattsonJack is seeking a Cancer Epidemiologist to join the group at our San Francisco Bay Area office. This position will be responsible for conducting independent secondary epidemiological research and analysis with a global scope (key regions include the U.S., Western Europe, and Japan). A major area of MattsonJack specialization relates to the development of oncology patient and treatment projections.
Duties include:
- Develop quantitative epidemiological models from published and/or registry data, resulting in an estimation of potential patient populations within specific tumor types.
- Extract relevant information from large databases (e.g. SEER, cancer registry data, IARC, etc).
- Produce clear and concise written reports documenting the methodology used to obtain the patient population estimates.
- Conduct literature and abstract searches from regional conferences regarding changes in epidemiology.
- Be an active, willing and cooperative partner with other members of project teams.
- Assist clients and MattsonJack colleagues in presenting the results of the epidemiology/treatment analyses and understanding the market implications of oncology patient population estimates.
- Assist the Epi Group leader in monitoring the quality control/assurance process for all cancer epidemiology materials, both syndicated and custom.
- Provide ongoing input to improve the oncology epidemiology consulting service.
- Proactively pursue additional oncology epidemiology related project work and other business development activities as assigned.
- Travel domestically and internationally – 10% initially, possibly more in future.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Advanced degree in epidemiology (MPH or PhD) and/or oncology epidemiology experience would be a plus
- Science background.
- Experience in quantitative and scientific analysis.
- Experience working with data.
- Working knowledge of statistical analysis software such as SPSS, SAS or STATA
- Strong willingness to learn.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of current oncology treatment practices would be a plus.

DIRECTOR, MARKETING
We are currently seeking a Director of Marketing to be located in either our office in Philadelphia, PA or St. Louis, MO. This position will be responsible for planning, developing and implementation of all of the organizations marketing strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities, both internal and external. The director will oversee and engage in development and implementation of support materials and services for all our practice areas and products and services. This position will also direct the efforts of our marketing and production team to enhance the overall strategic value of marketing.
Responsibilities include:
- Design, implement and facilitate annual marketing plan for the organization
- Develop company’s positioning, targeting and strategies to enhance profitability and performance of assigned brands
- Coordinate interest in the organizations products and services with previous, current and/or future clients
- Conduct new product feasibility analysis by performing competitive, customer and cost/benefit analysis and present to senior management
- Coach and direct on those activities that develop insight for products under consideration and the maintenance of current product offerings
- Oversee the electronic marketing efforts including web casts and website design and maintenance
- Lead the marketing efforts for positioning, strategy and business planning of products currently being offered and those under development
- Assist and provide input in the design of launch plans, all product promotional materials/initiatives and sales objectives
Desired skills:
- BS/BA in Marketing or Sales Management
- Master’s degree preferred, but not required
- Minimum of 10 years required in the consulting or healthcare industry
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in sales or marketing desirable

RESEARCH ANALYST
We are currently seeking a Research Analyst for our office located in Foster City, CA. This position will be responsible for providing analytic support for Oncology Marketing Strategies(tm) United States (OMS US) and single client projects.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the survey processes for U.S. OMS surveys, including:
- Communicate with the vendors regarding scheduling and questions
- Implement survey revisions
- Analyze and interpret survey data
- Conduct interviews with healthcare providers and representatives of insurance organizations
- Perform research of secondary sources, analyze findings and synthesize conclusions from diverse information sources
- Assist with responses to client inquiries
- Attend conferences to gather information through informal discussions with attendees and through information presented by speakers
- Participate as a team member in single client projects, primarily cancer-focused
Desired Skills:
- BA/BS required, MBA/MS desirable with two years of experience
- Must have a strong interest in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry and in market research
- Intermediate to advances knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint (with graphics)
- Advanced writing skills
- Ability to travel – estimated to be less than 20%
